Born September 26, 1979 in Edina, Minnesota, Brian lived in a dozen or more cities until his family settled down in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.  The oldest child of three, Brian loved fishing and hunting--or any outdoor activity.  Once a high tenor, Brian sang many solos in school choir concerts.  He was fortunate to perform at Carnegie Hall during his sophomore and senior years.  In 1998, Brian was chosen for a baritone solo at the Minnesota All-State Choir performance at the Minneapolis Auditorium.

At age 14, the young singer decided to try his hand at guitar.  His father, Carl, taught his son a few chords, then told him to figure out the rest on his own.  Soon Brian was finger picking and writing music, as well as performing during choir concerts

High school graduation came in 1998, and Brian decided to attend UW-Richland in Richland Center, Wisconsin where his grandfather grew up.  He also liked the fact that there he would not have any trouble having his name pronounced correctly or writing a check:  there were 13 Unbehaun's in the local phone book!  (By the way, it's pronounced un'-bee-hown).

His second year at college, Brian discovered Treasures in the Bakery, a local bistro/antique shop that features area musicians.  Before long he was doing two-hour sets to the local crowds, getting positive feedback on his own songs.  Branching out, Brian started performing at Scandia House, a coffee shop in Thief River Falls.

In October of 1999, Brian was honored to be invited to a sound check and concert for his favorite group, Blessid Union of Souls Playing nearby in Winona, Minnesota, Brian met Elliot, C.P., Eddie, Tony and Jeff, as well as the sound crew who treated him to supper.  He also gave Eddie a ride back to his room and played him an original song.  BUOS has encouraged Brian to pursue his dream and is currently advocating with their record label on his behalf.

Late in 1999, Brian decided to record a CD which was recorded in his dad's studio.  Released November 4, 2000, the self-titled collection of 11 songs chronicles themes of love gained and love lost through the eyes of a 21-year-old.  For more on the CD, click here.

At present, Brian is attending Musictech College in Saint Paul, Minnesota where he is taking a Music Industry major.  Brian is sitting in with The Vintage Mink, a four-piece alternative rock group from the Twin Cities.  Check his schedule for performances.

Just what the future holds for this 6' 2" young man from Minnesota is yet to be seen.  But if talent is the deciding factor, the coming years will be filled with much success and many musical adventures!
